Julie sang J'irai la voir at her last concert on March 29, 2008. It was one of her favorites. Nina and Carmen sang this with George, Donna and Liza at Julie's funeral service

J'irai la voir un jour

J'irai la voir un jour
Au ciel dans la patrie
Oui j'irai voir Marie
Ma joie et mon amour

Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel
J'irai la voir un jour

J'irai la voir un jour
J'irai mourir aux anges
Pour chanter ses louanges
Et pour former sa cour

J'irai la voir un jour
Cette vierge si belle
Bientôt j'irai près d'elle
Lui dire mon amour

Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel
J'irai la voir un jour

J'irai la voir un jour
J'irai près de sa tombe
Recevoir la colombe
Dans l'éternel séjour

J'irai la voir un jour
J'irai loin de la terre
Sur le coeur de ma mère
Me poser sans retour

Au ciel, au ciel, au ciel
J'irai la voir un jour

Julie sings "Blessing of the Father" on La Famille Beaudoin, 1976

With great sorrow, we report the death on Tuesday April 8 of Louis Beaudoin's widow, Julie Lacourse Beaudoin, at age 87. She was traveling with her daughters at the Grand Canyon when she had a stroke.

Services for Julie were held April 14 at St. Anthony's Church in Burlington VT. Condolences may be sent to the family in care of the Vermont Folklife Center, 88 Main Street Middlebury, VT 05753. The Center is the home of the Beaudoin Collection documenting the family's musical heritage.

On March 29, 2008, Julie was onstage with us in Rhode Island. At the Blackstone River Theatre, she stood between daughters Carmen and Nina singing out the songs with them. She took the bows, sang the encores and felt the love on stage and in the audience. We were fortunate that the entire concert was filmed and will be archived at the Vermont Folklife Center. We include a wonderful photos above of Julie from the March 29 concert, with more on a separate page from that day.

Julie hung out and partied so much afterward that she dozed off in the car back to Burlington Sunday afternoon, but she'd come awake occasionally, smile and say, "That was FUN!"

We are devastated to lose Julie and we offer the Beaudoin family our deepest condolences. Having Julie for the past year in the band has been so incredibly special. We all call her "Memére" and have lost a beloved elder.

We're grateful for the good times going back more than thirty years with her and Louis and the family. She was a great lady. We'll miss her terribly and remember them both with love every time we play music together.

Says grandson Glenn Bombardier, "Although our pain is immeasurable, Memère and Pepère are at last reunited. There is no doubt that they are smiling with joy and pride at the legacy they've left behind."
